The Suðurnes region could well symbolise Iceland on its own.

Going there is more than just a change of scenery. At the end of the winter, when the greenery struggles to take hold of the landscape, one finds oneself faced with mink from another planet. At times, there are lunar scenes as far as the eye can see, where craters emerge in an ocean of basalt, freezing in time the rage of a land of fire that roared thousands of years ago.

And then, at one point, we see some columns of smoke. Symbolising industrialisation in our collective unconscious, here the factories are underground and it is nature that disposes of man. Everything happens between its rocks where, by geothermal energy, water travels to the surface to create its thermal chimneys whose heat can reach 300°C

And when you are close to such power, the heat embraces you, the smell of sulphur is omnipresent and the noise of this factory of nature fills all your sound space. Steam and bubbling water combine to create a chaotic symphony that nothing can stop. Day and night, these earthly songs echo eternally.

Unless these songs are Gunna's...
