Iceland is a country where only less than 1% of the surface is covered with trees. Apart from a few scattered appearances, seeing anything resembling a forest is exceptional. And as soon as the snow starts to fall, Öskjuhlíð Park is transformed into a miniature taiga in the center of Reykjavik overnight. What used to be a simple place for walking becomes almost an adventure. The paths turn white with snow, the small ones disappear and are almost impassable, and you have to use your memories to walk on one.

Just like a night visit to this park, everything becomes almost magical, a simple stone placed between the trunks of trees now seems to bear all the signs of a real refuge for the elves.

The cold, which is not so different from usual, seems to make the wind sound even more icy as it makes its way through the snowy branches. In a few steps, the change of scenery is total. And in the middle of this landscape worthy of the forests of the great north, the birds, impassive, continue to sing as if nothing had changed.
